Ice-breaking Railway Ferry Steamer S.S. Scotia
Photograph of the then recently launched ice-breaking ferry steamer Scotia, built to carry a locomotive and nine Pullman cars across the Straits of Canso in Nova Scotia. She was designed as an ice-breaker in order to cope with the large masses of ice that drift into the straits during the winter months
