The Ice which Sank the Titanic

Giver of the Titanic's death blow: The Ice which Sank Her. Sixty nine miles long and from three to twelve miles wide this is the ice floe encountered by the ill-fated Titanic on 14th April 1912. The isolated icebergs ranged from 95 to 180 ft out of the water. The berg with which it is believed the Titanic collided was about 140ft above water. The two crosses on the picture mark the spot where the Carpathia picked up the survivors, whilst the single X marks the point at which the Birma reached before realising that the position she had been given by the Titanic's wireless distress signal was incorrect
