Destroying aircraft by lightning, the British electrical invention Harry Grindell Matthews, who during the First World War received 25, 000 from the British Government for his systems of controlling power-driven craft by searchlight beam. Assistance of B. J. Lynes the new invisible electric ray which was demonstrated could destroy aeroplanes in the skies
