Jack Lovelock - Berlin Olympics 1936

John Jack Edward Lovelock (1910 - 1949) of New Zealand winning gold in the 1500 metres at the Berlin Olympics and setting a new world record in 1936. Undoubtedly the highlight of Lovelock's career his achievement showed that a four-minute mile might be within reach of runners after all. After his title, Lovelock graduated and became a doctor, serving as a medical officer during World War II. He was tragically killed when he fell under a subway train in New York
