Jelks in wartime, second hand furniture merchant, WW1

Advertisement for Jelk's, W. Jelks and Sons of Holloway Road, London, with fifty years experience in house removals and second hand furniture. The advert, which appears in The Sketch magazine at the end of September 1914, proclaims its Business as Usual approach in wartime, advising readers that it was retaining a full staff in all departments on full wages in spite of wholelsale requisitioning of horses and vehicles. The advert also promotes the fact it has a unprecedented amount of furniture stock due to an influx of pieces from officers and others called abroad. Pictured is a handsome Sheraton design mahogany buffet sideboard available for 5 1/2 guineas
