John Hassall sketching for the Red Cross, WW1
The artist John Hassall pictured sketching at a Red Cross fundraising event in Kidbrooke Park, London in 1918. To the left is Major Devitt who organised the sports for men of the Royal Field Artillery. Hassall carried out a huge amount of work for free during the Great War, and regularly made appearances at hospitals and fundraisers where he would make humorous sketches which were often auctioned
