King George VI in his ceremonial robes by Matania
A triptych of paintings by Fortunino Matania of King George VI dressed in his ceremonial Coronation robes. These paintings were adapted from three done of King Edward VIII for his Coronation. However, due to the fact the King abdicated before he was crowned, the ILN asked Matania to adapt the picture and re-draw the heads with that of King George VI (see picture number 10555106 for the original). The same was done with a special Coronation portrait of King Edward VIII by Albert Collings for the same publication. Collings re-drew the head of the portrait with that of George VI
