The King's chief nurse - Alice Tarr
Nurse Alice Tarr, from Devonshire, who attended King Edward VII when he became dangerously ill with appendicitis just before his scheduled coronation in June 1902. She nursed in South Africa during the Boer War where she gained valuable experience in dressing wounds
