Dame Laura Knight, DBE (1877 - 1970) - English painter pictured sketching Bronette and Gonzalis, the lady aerialists at Olympia circus. The first woman to be elected to the Royal Academy since its foundation, Knight's paintings of behind the scenes at the ballet and the circus were among her finest works
