Lion cubs at Earl's Court exhibition

Captain Frank Taylor, with two lion-cubs born at the Earl's Court Exhibition on May 24th 18899. The dog was designated foster-mother. Taylor was an animal trainer and tamer who had worked at Astley's, at the Porte St. Martin Theatre in Paris and Sanger's. The two boys in the picture were under his tutelage and care. The boy on the left, was called Marni, and was ten years old, He had come from Mozambique and was found by Taylor in Cape Town, while the older boy, aged fifteen, unnamed, was a bushman from Cape Colony (Middleburg) and an orphan
