The London Opera House, opening night 1911
The London Opera House seen from the stage on the opening night. The London Opera House, on Kingsway, opened in 1911 with a production of Quo Vadis. The auditorium was designed in the French Renaissance style with 18 upper boxes flanking the proscenium (nine on each side), and seven on a level with the stage on either side as well as a sweep of 15 loges just below the grand circle. Part of the site is now the Peacock Theatre
