: Their Majesties Court by Sir John Lavery

Their Majesties Court by Sir John Lavery

Double page spread from The Sphere featuring a painting by Sir John Lavery of the court presentation in the Throne Room of Buckingham Palace. The painting, now lost, was worked on over two years and although it is entitled Their Majesties Court, 1932 appears to feature people who were presented in both 1930 and 1931. A case in point is Miss Margaret Whigham, later Mrs Charles Sweeny and then the Duchess of Argyll. She is far left on the first row of seated debs on the left of the picture. Margaret was presented in 1930
