Series of photographs showing (Henri) Philippe (Omer) Petain (1856-1951), the French soldier and statesman, pictured whilst on trial for treason in July 1945. Marshal Petain was a French national hero in World War I, but during the Second World War was the leader of the Vichy administration which led, with the Nazi defeat, to his trial for treason. He was convicted and died in prison on the Ile d'Yeu
