Maxine Elliott (1868-1940), American actress and sister of Lady Forbes-Robertson, romantically linked with J. P. Morgan and later the New Zealand tennis player, Anthony Wilding; pictured near the Yser Canal during the First World War where she ran a barge taking supplies of food and clothing to destitute Belgian communities in remote areas. She is seen giving instructions to the chauffeur of her Red Cross car before starting out on one of her missions of mercy. The Sketch describe her as, the Beauty of the Red Cross Barge
