The Merry Month of May 1886
Series of scenes, originally entitled The Merry Month of May'. The engravings show a number of scenes typically in Britain in May, at that time (clockwise from top left): Edwin and Angelina take a house in the country and meet a local labourer; The girls are very attentive to Papa and mention something about new frocks'; Jones gets out his cricket kit and finds the children have been hammering with his bat; the Penny Icecream man brings out his stall; a young courting couple sit by a pond; a vicar goes to London for the May meetings; a manager sits in his office working out the starting line up for his cricket team
