Mona Lisa - the most copied picture in the Louvre
Artists copying La Gioconda (the Mona Lisa) in the Louvre, at around the time the painting was sensationally stolen. The Graphic writes, "the copies left by artists had accumulated in the cellars of the Louvre to such an extent that the French Minister of Finance introduced a Bill in the Chamber of Deputies for the purpose of selling them for the benefit of the State
