A soldier, of the Motorcycle Section of the British First Airborne Division, heading off on his motorcycle, 1944. The lightweight machine shown had a two-stroke petrol engine, was geared for rough surfaces and was light enough to be carried over obstacles. In September 1944, the British First Airborne Division took part in Operation Market Garden
