Mr Howard Carter
Howard Carter (1874-1939) British egyptologist, famed for his discovery of Tutankhamen's tomb. Born in 1874, he went to Egypt as a draughtsman in 1891 and studied the inscriptions and sculptures at Thebes. In 1907 he worked under Lord Carnavon at the tomb of Hatshepsut. The emptying, conservation and documenting of Tutankhamen's tomb occupied him for the rest of his life
