Mrs Stirling marries Lord George Cholmondeley
Front cover of The Sketch reporting on the marriage of Mrs Stirling (formerly Clara Elizabeth Taylor) of the Gaiety Theatre to Lord George Cholmondeley, second son of the Marquess of Cholmondeley. A divorcee, Clara was a well-known actress at George Edwardes famous Gaiety Theatre. George had been left a legacy of £3000 by Lady Meux (herself a former actress) with the rather hypocritical stipulation that he should marry a lady of society'. The Cholmondeleys marriage eventually ended in divorce
