National Coal Strike 1912
During the national coal strike, wood was the only form of fuel available. London County Council used coal for keeping the fires up in the stoke-holds of their river fire steamer. Photograph showing some of the crew lowering bales of wood for the delivery on the steamer which was moored by Blackfriars Bridge
