Newmarket Railway Station
The exterior of the new Newmarket Railway Station, funded by local millionaire racehorse owner Sir Harry McCalmont. The existing station at All Saints could not cope with increasing demand, at the beginning of the 19th century plans were drawn up for a new station 800 yards south-west of the terminus. The new station was situated on the Cambridge side of the old station and about a quarter of a mile nearer to the racecourse
