Nurses at Egginton Hall Hospital, WW1
Egginton Hall, Derbyshire, opened as a military hospital by Mrs Arthur Dugdale in October 1914, pictured with numerous convalescent soldiers - and nurses - enjoying the grounds. The hospital had a hundred beds - forty in the house, the ground floor having been converted into wards, mess room, operating theatre etc and sixty in three huts which had been built onto the house. Ambulance trains of wounded were received direct from the front, in conjunction with the Derbyshire Royal Infirmary. The house was demolished in 1955
