Onoto safety pen advertisement in Printers Pie, 1911

Advertisement or advertorial for Onoto safety pens in Printers Pie magazine, featuring an illustration of the many contributors to the magazine reading a copy. The tall figure with the moustache holding one side of the magazine is the artist John Hassall, who designed its front covers up to and throughout the First World War. Printers Pie was published by The Sphere and Tatler in aid of printers charities and edited by W. Hugh Spottiswoode. A sister publication, Winter's Pie, was published each Christmas. Both magazines carried contributions from the leading artists and humorous writers of the day including John Hassall (who designed the covers), William Heath Robinson, Lawson Wood and Walter Emanuel
