Patient on stretcher lifted onto evacuation coach 1939
Patient of Bart's hospital lifted on a stretcher into a specially fitted Green Line hospital coach. As part of the preparations for war, many buses were posted outside hospitals and converted into ambulances to evacuate patients in the case of air raids, with seats replaced by racks to carry stretchers
