Peter Scott and Elizabeth Jane Howard
Lieut. Commander peter Scott, M.B.E. R.N.V.R. son fo the Arctic explorer Robert Scott, who had been awarded a bar to his D.S.C. for great courage, leadership and enterprise in action with enemy forces in the Channel'. He is seen with his wife at the time, the novelist Elizabeth Jane Howard. She began writing professionally in the late 1940s, not long after her first marriage, aged 19, to the naturalist, by whom she had her only child, Nicola. She left Scott (who was 13 years her senior) in 1947 after a series of affairs
