Four examples of pillar boxes (or post boxes): a fluted example with a dome and crown, erected in Birmingham in 1856, another on featuring elaborate ornamentation from 1856 incorporating national emblems, another from the same year of a similar design at the General Post Office records office and finally, the first of Queen Elizabeth II's new reign, erected in Whitehall and featuring the new royal cypher
