Preparations for World War Two in London 1939
Photograph showing a portable air raid shelter that was required by Fleet Street newspaper, which was installed on the roof. The idea was that a man in an asbestos suit, should use the shelter as a look-out post. If an incendiary bomb should chance to fall on the roof he would be on hand to extinguish it with sand and chemicals
