Princess Alexandra of Denmark lands at Gravesend
Princess Alexandra of Denmark lands at Gravesend on Saturday 7 March 1863 for her marriage to Albert Edward, Prince of Wales. The event was legendary with the beautiful daughter of the Sea-King met by her future husband, aswell as no less than sixty Maids of Kent who scattered flowers in her path. Alexandra's parents, King Christian IX of Denmark and his wife, Queen Louise can be seen following the couple as well as her two sisters, Dagmar (later Maria Feodorovna, Empress of Russia) and Thyra (later Duchess of Cumberland)
