Princess Daisy of Pless nursing German soldiers, WW1
Daisy, Princess of Pless, pictured as a nurse with wounded German soldiers in Berlin during the First World War. Daisy, Princess Henry of Pless (1873 - 1943), formerly Mary Theresa Olivia Cornwallis-West, great Edwardian society beauty, married one of Imperial Germany's wealthiest princes in 1891. Her memoirs are an insightful record of the Edwardian era. Her son became Hans Heinrich XVII, 4th Prince of Pless (1900 - 1984). While she was nursing German soldiers, her sister, the Duchess of Westminster had established a hospital at Le Touquet nursing British and Allied soldiers
