Princess Elizabeth distributes Maundy money, 1952
Queen Elizabeth II being greeted on arrival at Westminster Abbey, when she distributed the Royal Maundy money. In the year of this picture, 1952, 26 elderly men and women-once for each year of the sovereign's age-will recieve the silver pence, specially struck at the Royal Mint in leather purses. The coins still bear the impression of the head of King George VI
