Princess Mary - provide funds during first Christmas WWI
Princess Mary (later Countess of Harewood), daughter of King George V and Queen Mary, with news of her appeal to provide a Christmas gift to every serviceman and woman during the first winter of World War One. The brass embossed tin contained cigarettes and tobacco, or sweets for non-smokers, chocolate for nurses and sweets and spices for Indian troops
