A Proposed Remedy Against Sea-Sickness 1878

Victorian invention to prevent seasickness; a seating area hanging from a boom, over the ships deck. With only an umbrella to protect the passengers on this floating settee, one wonders how much use this would have been with the rain and seaspray commonly associated with rolling seas. The helmsmans (at left) visibility would also have suffered somewhat and perhaps his concentration too
