Queen Charlotte's Ball, 1968, curtseying to the cake
Some of the 300 debutantes, dressed in traditional long white dresses, performing the mass curtsey in front of the huge cake, brought out during Queen Charlotte's Ball, held in 1969 at the Grosvenor House. Queen Charlotte's Ball raised funds for the Association of Friends of Queen Charlotte's and Chelsea Hospitals for Women. The cake was usually brought in by selected debs to the strains of Handel's Judas Maccabeus
