Queen Elizabeth II and Duke of Edinburgh in Malta, 1951

Princess Elizabeth (Queen Elizabeth II) attending a dance given at the Hotel Phoenicia in Malta by Wardroom Mess of Naval Headquarters, Lascaris. A special feature was a cabaret by officers and here the Princess is smilingly buying a hot dog from Captain Ben Fisher, Captain of the Fleet, dressed up as a chef. The Duke of Edinburgh is partly hidden behind a miniature Christmas tree, and on the left are Admiral Sir John Edelsten, Commander-in-Chief of the Mediterranean Fleet and Lady Edelsten
