Portrayer-in-chief of Fair Femininity, and painter of "A Duck's Egg!" (see picture number 10223078). Raphael Kirchner (1876 - 1917), Austrian artist, best known for his pin-ups, The Kirchner Girls, published in La Vie Parisienne in France and The Sketch magazine in Britain during the First World War and hugely popular with serving soldiers. Pictured working on an enormous canvas and wearing what appear to be pyjamas. The Sketch magazine secured an exclusive deal to reproduce his pictures, which were mildly erotic in1915
