Savages feel our muscle, Taiwan, 1890

Natives of the hill country of Bankimsing, Formosa(today Taiwan), explore the possessions of some English visitors that they encounter. One tests the muscle of a Englishman, whilst two others try on a shirt and pith helmet. Another rejoices in the discovery of an umbrella. The natives entered the house of an old Spanish missionary priest, where the English visitors were staying. Sketched by Mr. E. Hornby Grimani
