Scale model of the coronation route
Working on a scale model of part of the Coronation route in a Ministry of Works office - looking down over Whitehall to Parliament Square and the Abbey. The was prepared by the Chief Architect's division of the Ministry of Works and eventually covered the entire route from Buckingham Palace to the Abbey at a scale of 1/16. It incorporated models of all the stands to be erected and minatures of the decorations planned. The principal buildings were simplified reproductions made from balsa wood and hard board
