Two scenes on board the P.&O. steamship Sumatra, during its passage from Britain to India, 1875. In the top image two Punkah-Walas are working the fans in a saloon. In the bottom image an Ag-Wala or Smoker's Companion is on hand to light the cigars and cigarettes of a number of male European passengers
