Sir William Schwenk Gilbert - English parodist & librettist
Sir William Schwenk Gilbert (1836-1911), English parodist and librettist. Gilbert wrote Christmas burlesque and humorous poetry, but it is as a librettist for Sir Arthur Sullivan that he is best known. Among their collaborations, were HMS Pinafore, The Mikado and The Pirates of Penzance
