American-born Mrs James Rodney, formerly Miss Frances Strickland, before her marriage to Captain the Hon. James Rodney, M.C. brother of Lord Rodney. She was editor of British Harpers Bazaar magazine in the UK, and was responsible for helping secure fashion exports from Britain to the US during the Second World War. Considered one of the best-dressed women of her day, here she wears a hat with a stiffened veil which stands out around her hat together with a circle of white fox fur arrange her shoulders, worn neither as a collar or stole
