Spectators at Pytchley meet, Cottesbrooke
The Pytchley meet at Cottesmore - Miss L. Robinson, Mrs. Frank Crossley (Winifred Crossley), Miss Orlebar, and Miss Robinson on their coign of vantage watching proceedings. Winifred Crossley (1906 - 1984), seen here second from left, was an aviator who was the first woman to be checked out on a Hurricane fighter. She was one of the First Eight, the initial group of women pilots to join the Air Transport Auxiliary. Before the war she performed as a stunt pilot in C.W.A. Scott's Air Display and represented Bedfordshire at lawn tennis
