SS Carmania, 1905
Photograph of the Cunard turbine steamer Carmania, built in 1905 by the John Brown Shipyard of Clydebank. The Carmania was reputed to be the first very large turbine steamer, with a gross tonnage of 20, 000. During sea trials in November 1905, she achieved a steady speed of nineteen and a half knots
