Cunard steamship Umbria'. During a crossing from Queenstown to New York in December 1892, the Umbria's propeller shaft broke and she was disabled, turning a routine trip of a week into an adventure of 13 days. The ship's engineer had to fashion a makeshift propellor shaft, which took several days, as the ship drifted in the Atlantic
