Steam-ship Roosevelt departing for the Arctic at the beginning of Robert E. Peary's 1908-1909 North Pole Expedition. This 700 ton, polar exploration ship took Peary to Cape Sheridan on Ellesmere Island, from where he make his successful attempt to reach the North Pole
