The Shot Put or Stone Putting showing N. Georgantas of Greece, the winner with a throw of 19.92 1/2 metres at the 1906 Athens Summer Olympics. The fourth modern Olympic games was staged as a celebration of the tenth anniversary of the resumption of the Games opening on May 22. Though not official, they were very important for the Olympic movement after the failure of the 1900 and 1904 Olympics
