Survivors of the Electra rescued by US submarine

The Electra sank after engaging three heavy enemy destroyers during the Battle of the Java Seas. The rescue was skilfully managed by the Lieutenant commanding the submarine with the crew swimming with lines to bring the Carley float alongside the underwater vessel
