Front cover of The Tatler featuring a portrait by Raymond L. Skipp of Miss Frances Sweeny (later Frances Manners, Duchess of Rutland - 1937 - 2024), daughter of Charles Sweeny and his ex-wife, Margaret, Duchess of Argyll. Skipp was influenced by the artist Pietro Annigoni and worked with oil tempura to achieve this effect. The portrait was commissioned by Frances's father. Published on the cover of Tatler the year after her coming out as a debutante
