The English Actor-Manager Herbert Beerbohm Tree (seated), pictured with Sir Thomas Beecham, English conductor and impresario together in Tree's study at His Majesty's Theatre in London. The pair collaborated in 1913 on Somerset Maugham's adaption of a play by Moliere, Le Bougeois Gentilhomme and Dr Richard Strauss's opera, Ariadne auf Naxos
