Twin Steam-Ship Castalia, August 1875
Twin-hulled, paddle steamer Castalia, leaving Dover for Calais, August 1875. Built in 1874 for the English Channel Steamship Company, her radical design was intended to improve stability and sea-keeping. However the design was not a success and she was sold, in 1883, to the Metropolitan Asylums Board for use as a floating hospital on the River Thames
