Twin Steam-Ship Castalia, September 1874
Engraving of the twin-hulled, paddle steamer Castalia, September 1874. Launched in that year, for the English Channel Steamship Company, her radical design was intended to improve stability and sea-keeping. However the design was not a success and she was sold, in 1883, to the Metropolitan Asylums Board for use as a floating hospital on the River Thames
